Dear fans, friends & colleagues ,

I'm very excited to invite you all to participate in the creation of my next album "Patchwork". In this unique experience, I'll be asking you to make suggestions that will ultimately influence the final product.

You will be able to follow every step of the creative process via posts and video blogs right here and on my Facebook page,
Twitter as well as my website www.paulboothsax.com

Although every suggestion made is valid, let me help define what I'm looking for:

1) Song choice - this could be from any genre of music. Think broadly, as at the end of the day I'll be making it my own somehow.

2) Genre - This could be a suggestion of style for an original piece of music e.g. "Try writing a piece in a Indonesian Gamelan style"

3) Musicians - Suggestions of musicians you could imagine me performing with. This could be restricted by finance but I'm very interested to hear your thoughts which will be welcomed and seriously considered.

4) Ensemble - Any line-up of instrumentation you would like to hear, from solo to quartet to large ensemble, big band, orchestral etc....

5) Song titles - for original pieces (this may come later after the music has been written, or could inspire me to write something with the title in mind)

6) Visual Inspiration - From showing me a photograph or painting to asking me to drive out to a location that could have some form of inspiration for a new piece of music.

7) Aural Influence - Asking me to listen to an album or sounds from nature.

8) Sound bite - You could send me a sound sample to be incorporated into the album. Something non musical preferably as we don't want to get into copyright issues.

9) Suggestions for album artwork

These are just examples of what I'm looking for in the suggestion boxes, therefore if you have anything else you would like to contribute please feel free. I know I'm asking for trouble when it comes to my friends suggestions, I'm sure they are going to be colourful, however, I will take everything on board.

For each persons suggestion that ends up on the album, they shall be credited in the thank you section of the liner notes and will receive a free copy.

This is a real departure from how I usually go about writing an album and I hope you join me on the journey. Thanks in advance.

Paul
